Moses Wooster

Moses Wooster died in 1767 and was buried in the family plot in High Wycombe. His widow Mary carried on the farms and eventually these passed to their son Aaron.

Returning to the High Street, Church Lane is reached under the Church Loft and leads up to the church. On the lefthand side are two cottages which were purchased by Eleanor Bailey widow in 1759 for the sum of £80 the pair. She left the lower of the two cottages to her daughter Ann Bailey who married Timothy Wooster, youngest son of Moses Wooster and Grace Fryer. Timothy and Ann did not live in the cottage, but rented it out.

The lane up to the Church is very stepp but well worth the climb in order to enjoy the view. Coming back down Church Lane on the righthand side is the path to the Hellfire Caves. Although Moses Moses would not have taken part in the orgies which were held there, the goings on must have caused much gossip among the villagers.
