1371 In a book written by Guy Oddie called 'Inspired by Lutyens', the author has made a number of corrections in the preface. One such correction involves a footnote on page 67, which reads as follows:

"Clive Edward Doré Wooster was part genius and part a puzzling innocent. He was puzzled to know why everyone called him Bertie, as his innocence had denied him any awareness of PG Wodehouse. So besides being a puzzle himself, he was a puzzle to everybody else. In A&B branch of what was then the Ministry of Education, he was respected for his innovative rationalisation of school kitchen designs: respected but not befriended - always a loner. Yet, when in search of higher pay, he and I both left A&B to join Meyrick at the UGC, my respect for him was still not matched by friendship. Then, when we each tried to join Donald Gibson in the Office of Works, only one of us was allowed to leave Meyrick, so Donald opted for Bertie, who went off with a bee in his bonnet and made an idiotic ass of himself. Disdaining acquaintance with the turf, he never realised the existence of his illustrious namesake, the bookies' odds of 13 to 30, aka, Burlington Bertie."
Wooster, Clive Edward Doré F.R.I.B.A., M.B.I.M. (I81)

1372 In June's book, "The Woosters of Buckinghamshire", she refers to only six children and makes no mention of William. However, the fact that William was Christened as an adult would explain his absence from the book. His DOB of 1694 would indicate a strong possibility that he was the first child of Moses Wooster and Dorothy Browne. Wooster, William (I01679)

Information from Ian Giles
------------------------------------------
Charles Wooster lived at 5 Lollard Street, Kennington. He knew all about horsesand had his business in th South West suburbs of London. He had about 50/60 horses and at one time had five grooms. Some of the horses were let out for state occasions.

Charles and Emma went to Stoke Mandeville about 1910 with Jim Wooster. Jim went to Australia 1912. Charles and Emma lived in "Red House" Stoke Mandeville near the present hospital - probably leasehold. Because Charles had lost all his money when the "horseless carriage", ie the motor car came in during the early years of the century, that is his business had lost its value, and he was living in leasehold (maybe rented) accomodation with only his furniture to his name, he and Emma went to live with Nellie Hodgman (nee Wooster) and her husband Bert and their family. It appears that none of the other Wooster children offered them a home so they went and lived in Montana Road about 1914.

Lilian Giles believes that Charles and Emma are buried at Chislehurst, Kent.

Death Certificate of Charles Wooster
-----------------------------------------------------------
Charles Wooster died 17th July 1933 aged 88 years, a Cab Proprietor (Retired) at 32 Fairway, Petts Wood, Chislehurst, Kent of Senile Decay no PM and certified by W J Jenner FRCS. The death was registered on 19th July 1933 by E M Wooster daughter who was present at the death at 32 Fairway, Petts Wood.
