It appears that Arthur suffered a horrendous accident at Greenford Station whilst on his way home to Ealing on leave. It seems he got out of the train at Greenford and was involved in a collision with another train, resulting in the loss of his right leg. This ended his service after just 54 days and he was approved for a pension despite the injury not being caused whilst on active service.
