My Dear Sally,
Well how are you going on darling have you much more to report about the 23rd (3 weeks today). Have you been up to see the parson yet. I suppose you will have done by now. I am glad you have fixed up about a ring and as you say we can get a good one after the war can’t we. Don’t forget to mention where you want to go for your honeymoon because time is getting a lot shorter now. I bet you think I am a natterer don’t you but I want everything to go off ok. I wrote to Hannah and Lincoln the other day. I received your letter the other day and I can just imagine your father when you read him the letter I wrote him. What sort of a job did I make of it. I have had a letter from Clifford today and he is glad I have asked him to be best man.
By the way you will be sane to ask Eileen (there I am, at it again). Clifford wants to know if I am getting married in Khaki or civvies. I would rather have civvies wouldn’t you, but I am at a loss about a suit and I have been trying to think who I could borrow one off, but don’t seem to get any nearer.
I think I should write to Vic and ask him to come to our wedding don’t you, it seems only right because I really think Mildred will stick to him now. What do you say, is it ok with you. Ma drew £20 out of the bank for me last week and I have asked her to give you £10 of this, she has sent the other 10 on to me. Clifford has had his leave put off until the 19th so it looks as though he has fixed up ok for Tuesday.
Well I don’t seem to have anything else to report about that so I will tell you how I am getting on down here. We are getting things a lot straighter now and the stalls are looking a lot better. I should just about be straight with everything when I come home on leave, boy what a long time it seems since I was home. Will you let me know when you will be down at Hannah’s again and I will try to get out to ring you up.
Well dear I think I have mentioned all I know for the present so I will say cheerio. Hoping to have a letter from you soon.
With all my love + kisses
Yours ever, Douglas.
