 #   Notes   Linked to
2301 Susanna married Samuel Washburn in Derby on 30 Nov 1713 and then in 1724 married Unknown Northrop Walker, Susanna (I97)

2302 Suspected Spanish Flu victim. Not confirmed though. Rowe, Edith (I04150)

2303 Suspected to be an infant death as he isn't with the family on the 1861 census. No death record found yet. Wooster, Thomas (I1980256)

2304 The 1881 Census revealed that Jane had moved to London working as a servant to Adolphus Frederick Williamson, a Chief Superintendent of Police, living at 4 Smith Square in Westminster.
Chief Constable Williamson was made the first head of the C.I.D. at Scotland Yard in 1888 at the time of the Jack the Ripper investigation. At the time he was a very sick man with heart trouble and unfortunately he died in December the following year. Whether Jane was employed by Chief Constable Williamson at the time of the Jack the Ripper investigation we may never know.
Wooster, Jane (I02307)

2305 The 1911 census indicates that Ernest and Rose married in 1899. However, the only record of their marriage located is in 1937 (Oct-Dec). Either they didn't formally get married until 1937, or the marriage was re-registered in 1937 and the original entry has been lost. Family: Ernest John Wooster / Rose Dennis (F301981)

2306 The 1939 Register claims DOB as 1906, but this is obviously wrong. Hyde, Arthur Reginald (I816276)

2307 The 1939 Register claims DOB as 21 Feb 1881. Worcester, Walter Herbert (I147)

2308 The 1939 Register claims DOB as 6 Sep 1889. The 6th may be correct, but Annetta's year of birth is 1888 as evidenced by the Birth Index entry Worster, Annetta (I16)

2309 The 1939 Register claims DOB to be 12 Dec 1904. However, the evidence from the 1911 and 1901 census, the BMD Index, Nora's baptism and school admission records that her DOB was 12 Dec 1897 is overwhelming. Harris, Nora Pansy (I45)

2310 The 1939 Register claims DOB to be 25 Apr, but all other documentation appears to confirm 15 Apr. Wooster, Leslie Allan Graham (I218412)

2311 The 1939 Register claims DOB to be 4 Jul 1905. We believe this is wrong as both the Death Index and the Poor Law records say 12 Jul 1905. Worcester, Rose Mary (I769)

2312 The 1939 Register claims Winifred's YOB as 1914, but this is not correct since her birth was recorded on the Birth Index as 1913 Snaith, Winifred (I2031203)

2313 The 1939 Register erroneously gives Zeta's DOB as 2 Aug 1905 Edwards, Zeta Margaret (I984175)

2314 The 1939 Register gives DOB as 12 Jul, whereas the Christening record says 14 Jul. Both are very clear but can't both be right. Lutz, Harriet Elizabeth (I164)

2315 The 1939 Register gives Edith's DOB as 1900, but this is wrong. Her baptism record, birth and death index entries all give her year of birth as 1899. Bambrook, Edith Emma (I1245146)

2316 The 1939 Register gives Louisa's DOB as 26 Jul 1861 Wooster, Louisa (I984162)

2317 The 1939 register gives Monica's birth as 1909 Cochrane, Monica Frances Mary (I255)

2318 The 1939 register gives Winifred's DOB as 1903, but this is likely to be an error, since the Birth index gives the birth as 1902. The 1911 census backs this up, giving Winifred's age as 8, although there she is named as May Winifred. Hayden, Winifred May (I674191)

2319 The 1939 Register gives year of birth as 1881. The BMD and Christening records prove this to be wrong. Kettle, Daisy Esther (I177)

2320 The 1939 Register quotes Hilda's DOB as 1910, but must be 1909 as the birth was registered in 1909. This is also backed up by the Death index. Holcombe, Hilda Violet (I1962512)

2321 The 1939 Register wrongly claims year of birth as 1874 Wetherfield, Ann Eleanor (I134)

2322 The AngloBoerWar website gives two records, both in Kitchener's Fighting Scouts.

1. A J Worcester no. 26936: Demise: Died of disease - enteric fever 15 Apr 1901
Place: Klipkraal
Source: In Memoriam by S Watt

2. Arthur John Worcester no. 844: Served in 1st KFS. Joined Cape Town 14 Jan 01 died of wounds 15 Apr 01 Graaff Reinet
Source: Nominal roll in WO127.

It seems inconceivable that these two people are not the same person.
Worcester, Arthur J (I36)

2323 The assumption that Ivor is the son of Robert and Esther is still tenuous, but given his middle name of Carroll and his residence on the Electoral Rolls being near Robert and Esther, it would seem very likely. Wooster, Ivor Carroll (I1381765)

2324 The attachment of Reginald to Edith as his mother is very tenuous. We are quite confident that Albert Edward Wooster and Annie Jane Laverton are his grandparents, but there are other possibilities as to who his parents could be. Wooster, Reginald George (I1335160)

2325 The baptism record claims 15 Jul as DOB, but the 1939 Register and the WW1 records claim 25 Jul. Wooster, Phoebe Eliza (I1562194)

2326 The birth and marriage dates don't really tally, so one of them is probably wrong. Baldwin, Sarah (I63)

2327 The birth index gives 1892. The death index states 1893 which is believed to be an error Dillon, Phyllis Mary (I181413)

2328 The birth record gives his name as Francis Henry Beard. We can only assume this to be an error since all subsequent documentation refers to him as Francis Edward Beard, Francis Edward (I1742689)

2329 The birth record indicates 29th July, but is likely to be a mis-transcription as the other sources say 24th Wooster, Theodore Frelinghuysen (I440)

2330 The birth was registered under the name Bellingers with mother's maiden name not given. This might indicate that Agnes was not the daughter of Charles. Wooster, Agnes (I00638)

2331 The cemetery was later needed for development of the Queen Victoria Market so bodies buried there were exhumed and removed to Fawkner Cemetery, a very large burial ground on the northern edge of the Melbourne area, and tombstones and memorials removed and erected there. Wooster, Thomas (I9)

2332 The Christening record transcription says 10th Jun, but the 1939 Register is clearly 19th. It is very likely that the Christening record is mis-transcribed. Wooster, William Alfred (I42)

2333 The date is given as 29 Feb. However, 1837 was not a leap year, so the most likely date is 1 Mar. Nicholls, Martha Basford (I50)

2334 The death certificate confirms that Sarah was the widow of George Wooster (a commercial traveller). In the 1861 census she was living with her sister-in-law Martha Kennedy and George Kennedy. Martha was George's sister and Sarah would only have been very recently widowed. We do not know Sarah's surname as no marriage record has been found, although she died back in Liverpool and the informant was a Hannah Thomas of the same address. It is possible that Hannah was a close relative of Sarah. ?, Sarah (I2105330)

2335 The death date and place is tentative, but the death index does fit with the birth index. Wright, Lily Mable (I762)

2336 The Death date might be the interment date Mullins, Sarah Rachel (I561)

2337 The death entry claims his DOB was 1855, but all other evidence points to Charles being born in 1857. Wooster, Charles Frederick (I24)

2338 The death index claims DOB as 15 Nov 1931, whereas the 1939 Register claims 11 Nov 1931 Wooster, Joan Sheila (I1026092)

2339 The death index entry suggests a YOB of ca. 1891. The entry also states her mother as being Caroline Smith rather than Quinn and her father as William Mullins. On her birth record he is given as John William Henry Mullins and her mother as Caroline Quin. The marriage record for her parents states them as John Mullins and Caroline Quin.
It also seems that her middle name of Rachel only appears on her death record.
All this does leave a small element of doubt about whether we have the right Sarah, but on balance this information would appear very likely to be correct.
Most of the inconsistencies are associated with the death record - perhaps someone unfamiliar with Sarah reporting the death?
Mullins, Sarah Rachel (I561)

2340 The Death Index gives Emily's DOB as 6 Sep 1902 Wooster, Emily Rose (I1214002)

2341 The Death Index gives John's DOB as 10 May 1910 Cummings, John (I1214011)

2342 The Death Index gives Lillie's DOB as 27 Nov 1900, but we believe she was born on the 28th as evidenced by the 1939 Register and her school admission record. Wooster, Lillie (I1214001)

2343 The Death Index records his DOB as 12th Jun 1912 Parrett, Charles Edward (I686141)

2344 The Death Index records the name as George Ernest Worcester b. 1863. There is no corresponding birth entry for a George Ernest and no death entry for George Pharey Worcester. We believe this to be the same person. Worcester, George Pharey (I117)

2345 The death was registered in Croydon, most likely by his sister Sarah Margaret Hussey, Tyndall James Lord William (I181382)

2346 The DOB is probably 1815 rather than 1816 as quoted elsewhere. However, this assumes that the Christening record is correct. It does tie in with the location and the fact that William's father is given as Thomas on his marriage record to Susannah Avil Worster, William (I2)

2347 The DOB is tentative, but the death index does fit with the birth index. Wright, Lily Mable (I762)

2348 The family are called Wostear on the 1841 census. We believe they are the same family, since they are in the same area and Thomas is described as a "Polter".
After 1861, the family appear to use the spelling Woster, except for William Alfred, whose family consistently adopt the spelling Worster.
Woster, Thomas (I1)

2349 The IGI quotes 1622 as the year of birth but he discrepancy in may be due to the Julian Calendar operating in England at the time. Wooster, Susan (I00332)

2350 The information here is tentative, but we believe this George Worcester is very likely to be the one who was a POW and assumed lost at sea. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission website confirms his name is George and gives two possible dates of death, 31st Oct or 14th Nov, and his age as 27, making his DOB ca. 1915.
The only George Worcester born in England around that time was this one born in Holborn. His mother was White and we believe therefore his parents are George William Worcester and Eliza White, married in Bethnal Green in 1914.
His parent's DOB are obtained tentatively from the 1939 Register. He is recorded as William G, but has been annotated as George W and his DOB has been annotated from 1892 to 1893 with the note (birth certificate seen).
They lived in Billaricay in Essex and he was a painter and decorator.
There are a few possibilities, but we believe the most likely continuation is William Worcester (b. 1863, house painter) & Hannah Wilkinson (b. 1862), then Henry John Worcester (b. 1840) & Sarah Gillard (b. 1844), then Richard Worcester (b. 1806) & Lucy Mary Jameson (b. 1815). All in the Bethnal Green/Tower Hamlets area.
Worcester, George (I366)
