    • There is considerable conflict over Charles's actual arrival date in the USA. His naturalisation petition states 1 Aug 1874, whereas the passenger lists states that he arrived in New York on 26 July 1875 with his mother and siblings. The 1920 census gives a date of 1869, whereas the 1905 Rhode Island census gives a date of 1872. His father arrived in 1873 alone and it is possible that these different dates could be the result of multiple entries.
