  • Notes
    • The information here is tentative, but we believe this George Worcester is very likely to be the one who was a POW and assumed lost at sea. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission website confirms his name is George and gives two possible dates of death, 31st Oct or 14th Nov, and his age as 27, making his DOB ca. 1915.
The only George Worcester born in England around that time was this one born in Holborn. His mother was White and we believe therefore his parents are George William Worcester and Eliza White, married in Bethnal Green in 1914.
His parent's DOB are obtained tentatively from the 1939 Register. He is recorded as William G, but has been annotated as George W and his DOB has been annotated from 1892 to 1893 with the note (birth certificate seen).
They lived in Billaricay in Essex and he was a painter and decorator.
There are a few possibilities, but we believe the most likely continuation is William Worcester (b. 1863, house painter) & Hannah Wilkinson (b. 1862), then Henry John Worcester (b. 1840) & Sarah Gillard (b. 1844), then Richard Worcester (b. 1806) & Lucy Mary Jameson (b. 1815). All in the Bethnal Green/Tower Hamlets area.
