Lower Farm Ilmer
A pre-1960 picture of Lower Farm in Ilmer. Ann Wooster was the tenant here in 1839 prior to her second marriage (to John Eggleton).
It is likely that George Wooster (Ann's grandson) in his Meriweather Vindicator article must have returned to visit Lower Farm, as he mentions the railway being built on the well. There aren't any other properties where that would have happened.
Lower Farm in Ilmer became a Shell (Shellstar) demonstration farm between 1960 and 1984.
Here is a photograph of the farm buildings pre-1960 in a state we would expect George Wooster to have recognised (but notice the tractor in the lower-left). The railway line can be seen in the background on the embankment.
