On the 24th July 2010 the family group gathered in the village of West Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. The village remains
largely unchanged and was home to Moses Wooster (1697-1767) an ancestor of most of the attendees. Moses represents something of a
focal point in our large family tree.
The day was splendidly organised by our founder members without whose diligent research and knowledge there would be no family group, let
alone such an excellent day.
The group met for lunch at the George and Dragon where old and new members met to talk about our family. After lunch we visited the Churchloft
to see the ancient meeting room and see the workings of the clock. Our guide then took us a few strides up the road to see
Eleanor Bailey's cottages and pointed out that they were used in the filming of Foyle's War. Next was an easy walk up the hill to the
Mausoleum and the church of St. Lawrence. Being there early we did what most genealogists would do and trawled the graveyard to try to spot
any Wooster graves. One of our eagle-eyed founder members found one but it was quite faded and difficult to read, but a Wooster nonetheless.
Inside the church some of us went up the bell tower and were treated to spectacular views of the village and surrounding countryside. The
final part of the day took us down the hill to the Hellfire Caves for tea and biscuits and talk about the land of our ancestors.
