- Despite the BMD events in George's life all being within a small area, he obviously spent some time abroad.
On 20th Feb 1944 he entered the USA on board the SS Ruahine along with 110 other "aliens", all of whom were Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNZNVR).
The ship had sailed from Auckland, New Zealand and on the ship's manifest he states he was born in London, but his last permanent residence was Auckland.
